The Canadian police announced that it will stop targeting people who download copyrighted material for personal use. Their priority will be to focus on organized crime and copyright theft that affects the health and safety of consumers instead of the cash flow of large corporations.

In all seriousness, I think that's great. There are bigger legal priorities to tackle than Mariah Carey or whoever not getting her due. And when you think about it... taping a tv show onto a vhs cassette is illegal violation of copyright too, but how many of us think anything of that? It's a complete non-issue, as well downloading for personal use ought to be. Score one for the little guy!
